Today is one of those moments that will forever hold a special place in Insimbi’s story.
Today, we officially welcome Zara. 💗🦏✨
Over the past weeks, our community came together to help us name Messina’s June-born calf — a moment made even more meaningful as she is Insimbi’s first-ever fourth-generation baby. From votes and comments to messages and shares, the love poured in from every direction, and we were reminded once again just how powerful a united conservation family can be.
The final voting round took place across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and our Insimbi team, and the results were incredibly close. After counting every valid vote, the final tallies were:
- Zawadi – 79
- Téssera – 45
- Zara – 85
- Sofiya – 27
With 85 votes, Zara took the crown as her forever name. 👑
Derived from Hebrew, meaning “princess,” the name feels absolutely fitting for this precious little girl — strong, gentle, and full of promise.
The journey to this final decision began with a beautiful selection of meaningful names, each carrying its own story and cultural significance:
✨ Zawadi — “Gift” in Swahili
✨ Téssera — “Four” in Greek, honouring her fourth-generation legacy
✨ Zara — “Princess,” derived from Hebrew
✨ Sofiya — “Love” in Sepedi
In the earlier voting rounds, names from across cultures and languages were submitted and supported, reflecting the diversity and heart of our community. Every single vote mattered, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to be part of this process.
To those whose chosen name didn’t win — please know this: your voice was heard, your support mattered, and this journey wouldn’t have been the same without you. Naming Zara wasn’t just about choosing a name; it was about inviting our supporters into the very first chapter of her life story.
Thank you for walking this path with us, for celebrating new life, and for standing alongside Insimbi as we protect not only individual rhinos, but generations to come.
Welcome to the world, Zara — our little princess of Insimbi. 💗🦏✨
