Successful Collaring Thanks to Tumelo

Early September was a big day for us at Insimbi – 5 of our rhinos were successfully fitted with state of the art AI tracking collars. This is more than just technology on their legs – it’s another layer of protection for their future.

This collaring would not have been possible without the incredible support of Tumelo Coal Mines. Tumelo has stood by us for many years, and having their team on the ground with us for this collaring made it even more meaningful. Their commitment to rhino conservation goes beyond sponsorship – it’s hands-on, heartfelt, and deeply appreciated. A very special thank you also goes to RK, whose personal involvement played a key role in making this day possible. 💚

We are also so grateful to Dr Johan from @savingthesurvivors , who performed the collaring with such skill and care. His expertise ensured our gentle giants were kept safe and stress-free throughout the process. Saving the Survivors has been a constant support not only to us, but also to private rhino owners across the country. Their dedication to saving and protecting rhinos who have suffered so much is truly remarkable, and we are proud to have them as part of our journey.

Huge thanks also go to: Bahiti – for generously providing their vehicle to transport our guests comfortably during the operation. The team at @group.73 – for jumping in to lend a hand (quite literally!) when it came time to move a rhino.

To every person and group who came together for this collaring, we cannot express our gratitude enough. Protecting rhinos is never the effort of one – it’s the strength of many working side by side. Together, we are writing a better future for these magnificent animals.
